 The Nairobi Expressway is complete after months of construction. Moja Expressway, a subsidiary of China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), will operate the 27-kilometer expressway that runs from Mlolongo through Uhuru Highway to the James Gichuru Road junction in Westlands. CRBC designed, financed, and built the road. As a result, this article will explain how to obtain and pay for the Nairobi expressway toll card.

Motorists who intend to use the Nairobi Expressway must register with the company that will operate it. To put it another way, the Moja Expressway.

To register with Moja Expressway, however, you must go to the Nairobi Expressway Plaza Service Centre on Mombasa Road, opposite General Motors.

Following that, you must show proof of ownership of the vehicle at the service center. In addition, sign up for a payment method that you will use to pay for the expressway.

How To Get And Pay For The Nairobi Expressway Toll Card

There are three modes of payment this include::

  1. Manual Toll Collection (MTC) card
  2. Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) service
  3. Cash.

To register, you have to physically visit Nairobi Expressway Plaza Service Centre on Mombasa Road.

#1. Manual Toll Collection (MTC) card

A manual Toll Collection (MTC) card can be loaded with toll points used to pay toll fees at Toll Stations on the expressway.

For instance, the steps to apply for the Manual Toll Collection card are:

  1. Visit the service centre at Nairobi Expressway Plaza
  2. Fill in the MTC Card Subscriber Registration form
  3. Present the required documents ID/Passport and Logbook
  4. Pay a service charge of Ksh.300
  5. Purchase toll points and activate your MTC card
  6. After that, Load toll points into your MTC card.

The Minimum purchase of Toll Points for MTC card is Ksh.1,000 with a validity of one year.

#2. How to apply for the Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) service

Similarly, ETC service allows toll points to be electronically deductedthrough the pre-installed On-Board Unit (OBU) device offering a non-stop road service.

For instance, the steps to apply for the Electronic Toll Collection service are:

  1. Visit the service centre at Nairobi Expressway Plaza
  2. Fill in the Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) service subscriber registration form
  3. Present the required documents (ID/Passport and Logbook)
  4. Pay a service charge of Ksh.1,000.
  5. Install and activate your OBU devicethat will be mounted on your vehicle
  6. Purchase toll points
  7. After that, Load toll points into your OBU device

The minimum purchase amount of toll points for ETC service is Ksh.2,000 with a validity ofOne year.
